The bhij mantra of this chakra is RAM. The colour associated with this chakra is yellow. The element associated with it is fire. The planet which corresponds to this chakra is mars. This chakra is found above the stomach between the breastbone and the loins. The organs that come under its influence are stomach, spleen, small intestine, liver, gallbladder. Hence we can say it influences the digestive and the nervous system. A strong navel chakra contributes to the person having high energy, and a zest for life. A blockage in this chakra leads to insecurity, grief. To harmonise this chakra one can use these gem stones; Tigereye, Citrine, Amber .The Bach Flowers that help here are Lavender, Chamomile, Lemon, Anise. The affirmations one can use are “I deeply love and approve of who and what I am.” , I release all judgement and trust in love.” One can also meditate on this chakra chanting its bhij mantra till you see this chakra rotating clockwise and yellow in colour.

It is depicted as a twelve petalled flower .The bhij mantra associated with chakra is Yam. The Gods associated with this chakra are Isa and Kakini. The colour this chakra corresponds to is green, the planet is Jupiter. This chakra lies in the centre of the chest. The organs associated with the heart chakra are skin, immune system, heart, lungs. A well balanced heart chakra contributes to the individual being accepting and loving. People with a balanced heart chakra take responsibility of others very easily. An imbalanced chakra leads to heartlessness and bitterness. To harmonise this chakra one can use the gemstones Emerald, Jade, Rose quartz. Bach Flowers Red Chestnut, Willow, Chicory come in handy. The affirmation “I love and approve of myself unconditionally.” One can also meditate on the bhij mantra to harmonise it.

The forehead or the Ajna chakra also referred to as the third eye, is the centre for intuition and clairvoyance . This chakra has two petals. This Chakra is also known as the Guru Chakra. This Chakra has no animal associated with it, as it is not considered to really be part of the body. The mantra for this chakra is OM.
The deities associated with this chakra are Paramashiva, Shakti Hakini. The colour this chakra is depicted by is dark blue. This chakra is influenced by the planet Uranus. This chakra is located between the eyebrows, ears, nose, cerebellum, face, the pituitary gland, hormonal and nervous systems. This chakra when well developed On a physical level it influences the individual to be highly intuitive, clairvoyant and to possess a high level of visualisation and imparts mental clarity. A blockage in the energy in this chakra leads to forgetfulness, greed and confusion. Imbalances in this chakra can be set right by using the gemstones Blue Sapphire, Sodalite, Opal and Blue Tourmaline. The Bach Flower remedy one can resort to are Crab APPLE, Walnut, Vine. The affirmation “I am open to new ideas, I release all impediments that stand in the way of my development”. Using the bhij mantra OM in meditation also helps balance this chakra.

The throat or the visuddha chakra corresponds to communication. It is depicted as a 15 petalled flower and corresponds to the bhij mantra HAM. Its colour is sky blue. The Gods associated with this chakra are Sakina, Sadashiva and Indra. The planet associated with this chakra is Saturn. This chakra is present near the larynx. It influences the neck, jaw, thyroid, parathyroid, larynx, throat windpipe. This chakra is the centre of sound. A well balanced throat chakra contributes to good communication skills. Expression is the key word of this chakra. Imbalances in this chakra causes stuttering, stammering and difficulty in communicating or expressing oneself. The throat chakra can be stimulated by using gem stones Lapis Lazuli, Aquamarine, Turquoise, topaz. One can also reach out to the BachFlowers Eucalyptus, Camphor, Peppermint. The affirmation that works for this chakra is “ I now release the fear and doubts which block the way to my free and creative expression.”

Chakras are important energy centres in the body that receives, assimilates and expresses life force energy. They influence our cells, organs our entire body in short. They influence our thoughts and actions. Any imbalance in any one of our chakras can affect our thinking and our health. Traditionally there are upto 88,000 chakras. We will focus on the seven important chakras. They are aligned on the spinal column. The seven main chakras in our body are the root or the Muladhara chakra, the sacral or the Swadhisthana chakra, the navel or the Manipura chakra, the heart or the Anahata chakra, the throat or the Visuddha chakra, the forehead or the Ajna chakra and the crown or the Sahasrara chakra. Whenever a person blocks whatever experience he is having, he in turn blocks his chakras, which eventually become disfigured. When the chakras are functioning normally, each will be open, spinning clockwise to metabolize the particular energies needed from the universal energy field.
We will now run through each chakra individually.
The root or the Muladhara chakra: In Sanskrit mula means root and adhara means support. The root is a four petal chakra. The bhij mantra for this chakra is LAM. So far as location is concerned, the Root lies between the anus and the perineum. The Gods associated with this chakra are Brahma and Dakini. The root is associated with the element of lead and the planet Mercury, and supplies energy to small and large intestines, governs teeth, nails digestion gives stability. There is a connection between the root chakra and the earth.
To activate the root chakra one can use ruby, garnet or black tourmaline. Chanting the Bhij mantra will help. One can also sit in meditation and draw your attention to your root chakra, breathe red colour into the chakra, exhaling the toxins or negativities out. Once you are satisfied that the chakra is cleansed, visualise it red in colour rotating in a clockwise manner you can also incorporate the chant Om lam namah .
You will have to work on your root chakra if you have problems with your digestion, colon, back pain sciatica, if you feel weak or tired, if you have lost faith or do not believe in the life process. One can use the Bach flower Clematis, Sweet Chestnut, Rock Rose to strengthen the root chakra. One can affirm saying thus: “I trust life supports me in fulfilling my purpose. I am willing to release all my fear and insecurity to live with joy now.”
To keep the root chakra healthy, make sure to be physically active, to ground yourself well, and to include red in your apparel.

The crown chakra or the Sahasara chakra is a thousand petalled chakra, (it is a thousand petalled lotus flower). This chakra serves as the abode of Shiva.
The mantra used for this chakra is OM. This chakra lies at the top of the head, and it symbolises spirituality, self realisation and enlightenment but if imbalanced can lead to depression and deep confusion. The imbalances in this chakra can be set right with the help of the gem stones Diamond ,Rock Crystal and Azurite. The Flower remedies one can reach out for are Wild Rose and White Chestnut. The affirmation “ I am divinely guided and protected”, also helps. The mantra on which we can meditate for this chakra is OM

The Sacral or the Svadisthana shakra
This is the centre of sensuality. It could be thought of as our home base and is depicted as a six petalled flower. The bhij mantra is VAM. It is associated with the water element and the diety associated with this chakra is Vishnu and Rakini. It is found a finger width below the navel. The organs it governs are the reproductive system, kidneys and bladder. A well balanced sacral chakra increases the pleasures of life . It brings about self awareness. The sacral chakra is the seat of our emotions. A well balanced sacral chakra will allow you to have the proper motivation to make the correct decisions in life. You will have less physical ailment and you will be in charge of your own emotions. You will also enjoy a more fulfilling sex life. If your Sacral Chakra is blocked, it can show up as low back pain, constipation or even sexual type diseases, emotional distress, clouded mental thinking, and apathy.
To harmonise the sacral chakra one can use coral or Aventurine or orally take Oak, Olive, Pine (Bach Flower remedies). One can also use this affirmation “I accept and love my body and sexuality.” Or “I allow pleasure, sweetness, and sensuality into my life.”One can also meditate on the sacral chakra chanting the mantra VAM till you feel the chakra is a clear orange in colour, rotating in a clockwise direction
